every dime counted
seemed to count itself
but the pennies were the trouble spot
and the cost of all goodwill.

Excellent verse about our common failing to “pinch pennies”, causing much unncessary negativity and friction! Thank you for such a pointed reminder about the troubles fretting over money causes in this world.

Boy, those were the days, when a dime counted and pennies had something besides nostalgic value. I note that a ride on the horse at the grocery store still costs one cent!
