Time

Time

Time is a concept
By which we can relate energy and space.
I’ll say it again,
Time is a concept
By which we can relate energy and space.

I don’t believe in time zones.
I don’t believe in time clocks.
I don’t believe in the World Time Server.
I don’t believe in timeshares.
I don’t believe in Daylight Savings Time.
I don’t believe in egg timers.
I don’t believe in timesheets.
I don’t believe in quality time.
I don’t believe in real time applications.
I don’t believe in Time Magazine.
I don’t believe in time outs.
I don’t believe in the New York Times.
I don’t believe in railway timetables.
I don’t believe in reunions in Times Square.
I don’t believe in triple overtimes.
I don’t believe in Time Travel.
I don’t believe in the end of time
I don’t beleive in the beginning of time
I don’t believe in Once Upon a Time!

I just believe in space,
space and energy.
And that’s reality.

The poem is over.
Not.

  1. Editor Note: There is no date associated with this Zumwalt. Clearly it is written sometime after the John Lennon Plastic Ono Band album that contains the song on which the poem is based. It is further likely that the reference to timeshares establishes that the poem was written no earlier than the late 1970’s or early 1980’s. The reference to the World TIme Server is the best means for establishing a date, as the launch of the World TIme Server appears to be around 1998.

  2. I think this might become one of my all time favorites… if you’ll pardon my use of the word “time” in this particular case.

  3. I like it. A poem that makes sense. You might say; ‘timeless’.

  4. I love reading old posts, the today post is always visited by someone … This one is surely worth reading! I wish I didn’t believe in time either, but time has forced me not only to believe in it, but and to chase it all the time 🙂 Have a good day!
